You start up the game and they remind you dead-straight that you are officially in the deepest bowels of Hell itself. You are led to believe that you're in for another rip-and-tearing rampage against The Legions of Hell, that nothing will stop you in your way of slaughter. Gone are the heavy metal-inspired tracks, replaced by incredibly unsettling ambient music tracks courtesy of Aubrey Hodges. Doom 64 manages to take the classic Doom gameplay and atmosphere and make it much scarier like its PlayStation counterpart, with darker graphics, more muted and grim colors, and one absolutely creepy soundtrack.
